If this does not work, and you are using windows 7, go to control panel -> devices and printers -> controller (bring up context menu) -> game controller settings, and replace "Controller (XBOX 360 For Windows)" with exactly what is said under the controller column. Paste the following into the DMC3SE.ini file in the game directory. This solved the frustrating problem where the sticks were switched in Devil May Cry 3: Special Edition, namely movement on the right and camera on the left.
